OPS employees may connect their personal phones, tablets, and laptops to the OPS Wi-Fi network using their secure district credentials. This allows the district to identify and monitor network activity associated with these devices.

To protect the security, reliability, and integrity of the Owasso Public Schools network, personally owned Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as digital picture frames, Apple TV devices, Amazon Echo devices, and similar equipment, are not permitted on district networks. These devices often do not meet district security requirements and may present security, privacy, or compliance risks.

Allowing unmanaged IoT devices can negatively affect network performance, create compliance concerns related to FERPA and COPPA, and limit the district's ability to respond effectively to security incidents.

Therefore, personal phones, tablets, and laptops are permitted when connected through approved authentication methods, while personal IoT devices are prohibited. This policy helps maintain a secure, stable, and compliant technology environment for students and staff.
